Ingredients
- 4 slices organic whole wheat bread, crumbled
- 2 tsp split black gram (urad dal)
- ½ tsp mustard (rai) seeds
- ⅛ tsp asafoetida (hing)
- 1 green chilli, chopped
- 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
- 2 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp grated unpeeled ginger
- Unrefined salt to taste
- 1 tsp lime juice
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, for the garnish
This is an excellent recipe if you have bread that is going hard. Always use whole wheat bread.
Temper the split black gram, mustard seeds and asafoetida in a pan. Add green chillies, onions and dry fry (without oil). When they begin to brown, add tomatoes and ginger and cook a little. Stir the bread in. Add salt to taste. Turn the heat off and add lime juice, chopped coriander and serve.
