Alcohol maybe plant-based but it is not whole – it is more refined than even juice. So, it is empty calories, without nutrition and leads to a rise in blood sugars. It is also acidic and addictive. It is avoidable on a regular basis. If you have already reduced the animal-source foods in your diet then your need for alcohol will also reduce.
Red wine is being touted as beneficial as it has anti-oxidants. However, all plant foods are rich in anti-oxidants so you don’t need wine for that.
